Baptisms
Here at St Peter and St Paul’s Church and St Mark’s Church we believe putting God at the centre of family life is something of great importance.
We are very happy to baptise any infant, child or adult who is resident in the Parish, or who may have a strong qualifying connection with us.
Baptism (sometimes known as Christening for babies and young children, but also available for adults) is the start of an amazing journey of faith and a special occasion for all your friends and family. God offers His presence to every person from birth. Our journey in the Christian faith begins with a welcome into the family of God (the Church) and involvement afterwards.
Baptism is when a person, or parents on behalf of a baby or child, commit to following Jesus Christ throughout their life. Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity to express our gratitude to Almighty God for the precious gift of a child.
As part of the creation of our new extended parish, to be known as Godalming Minster, we join members of Busbridge Church on the first Sunday of each month for Muddy Church. This is an exciting activity, a new style of family worship as we get out and about and learn about God through nature.
Baptisms and Thanksgivings now take place during one of the 10am Holy Communion Services held on the other Sundays of each month and we encourage you to join us for at least two of these services prior to the baptism.

Many adults have valued the opportunity to explore the Christian faith and find out about baptism before seeking to be baptised themselves, and here in the Parish we offer the Alpha Course for those interested.

Following your initial enquiry, we will invite you to meet with one of the clergy team or a Baptism Preparation Evening, which will last a maximum of one hour. This is designed to be a relaxing and enjoyable time where we share with you all aspects of baptism, including what will happen on the day, and answer any questions you may have.
